Since 2014, Resilient Virginia has built strong, lasting relationships with state, regional and local government agencies; nonprofit organizations representing a variety of community interests; academic institutions; and private sector companies, all of which provide climate mitigation, adaptation and equity information and services. We have been working to educate and build collaborations among these organizations through our Conferences, Resiliency Academy series, listening sessions, and projects. We recognize the need for a more formal, well-funded and organized approach to bring together this network of organizations for maximum effectiveness.

Resilient Virginia Collaborative Alliance

The Resilient Virginia Collaborative Alliance (RVCA), will empower regional stakeholders to collaborate, share resources and tools, and significantly bolster the process of resiliency planning in communities located in Central and Southwest Virginia.

Through the RVCA, Resilient Virginia will formalize and expand these interactions and bring the benefits of collaborations to communities that are striving to create resilience plans to address disasters and the detrimental effects of climate change. We will particularly work to address gaps in services to small, rural, non-coastal and disadvantaged communities that lack the staff and funding to initiate climate resilience research and planning.
